Ruby (and Rails)

I have this major project at uni, to develop a software following the whole SDLC, in a group of six. We (well the team leader) decided that we should use Ruby on Rails. Me being the "Python junkie", i wasn't interested in Ruby. As i have had no experience in using Django or Turbogears i couldn't suggest these, whereas the team leader has had some experience with Rails but to what extent i do not know.

Anyway, ive been looking into Ruby and its just seems like Python. Hash's and Dictionaries. But Rails as a framework is great, to the extent that i understand so far. Which is not much. I just watched the first screencast and each time something worked the screencaster says "oops" as if it something didn't work. Ruby...well reading Why's (Poignant) Guide To Ruby, is, i admit fun/different and who can resist Cartoon Foxes with who ramble on about Chunky Bacon, what else can i say?

More to come.

AUC Python and Objective C Workshop

I will be going to this workshop next week as i have been given the scholarship from Apple University Consortium (AUC) for my university. The reason behind me attending this workshop is as follows; i've been learning Python for the past one and half year as a hobby. I haven't taken any courses on Python, i just decided one day at work during my Internship last year to learn it. Maybe the catalyst being the fact that Tcl is a awful language to write test scripts or maintain the existing ones. So this workshop will give me some professional training in Python even if its for one day only. The second day will see me learn the PyObjC bidirectional bridge between Python and Objective C. This will be a good opportunity for me to learn the development process on a Mac (as i recently switched) so i can then try converting PyPsp into a Mac application.

Graduate jobs?

How hard can it be to find a Graduate job that i want? There are jobs out there but there mainly consulting stuff. I didn't go to uni for four years and then not practice what i learnt i.e programming. First post and im already complaining.
